The long and winding road…

Well our journey is mostly certainly along long winding roads in the middle of nowhere, well not nowhere, Castilla La Mancha to be exact and the route continues to be beautiful. Rolling countryside and green, I’m not used to seeing Spain so green! Yesterday was a bit of blip on the landscape though, when you wake up and nothing goes right… well not everything goes according to plan. I woke up feeling a bit homesick and mourning my dogs, then we had a bit of a change to the planned accommodation, but thanks to Maria Angeles at Casa de Las Junqueras Porzuna, we recovered, she let us stay there one more night and waived the cost, donating it to the charity. Very generous. And so it went on all day, keys in the wrong car, losing my car key. However the day was brightened up by Jose Manuel from Castilla La Mancha television who had contacted me over the weekend to see where he could catch Julia en route. That’s easier to ask than to answer, as a lot depends on the weather, if Julia’s feet are hurting and she walks as opposed to runs. But we did manage to get together along with another reporter and camera man in Piedrabuena. Jose Manuel was just adorable! And the story went out about 20.30 on Castilla La Mancha’s news. He kindly sent me the link to the TV programme today. The youtube video has me rabbiting on in bad Spanish, but luckily only for seconds.

Today is a better day, lovely drive over to Almodóvar del Campo near Ciudad Real. Great accommodation again at the Hotel Sisapo. We are here for two nights and then we move on again. The blue dot moves yet again… We had lunch in the most amazing Bodega/restaurant. We just keep finding stunning places to stay/eat, and the occasional bum one too… Today’s photo is from that Bodega, although I have no idea what it is! I will ask later on.

Life in a small Spanish village and our subsequent adventures

After living in Spain for a number of years and travelling a lot within Spain on holiday, we were very fortunate to spend two months travelling from Suances on the north coast to Almunecar on the south coast this year, taking two months to see the landscape. This is our tale and what happened afterwards back in our “normal” life…
