Aaaaaah, Andalucia
We crossed over the border from Castilla La Mancha into Andalucia on the 29th April along what I think must be worst road ever. The A6178… pot hole city. It was yet another cold and rainy day! And it took me around 3 hours to drive between hotels and goodness me the road was windy, it never ended, well it did eventually but it took forever. We happened upon just one of the major events of the calendar if you are from Andújar and the Santuario Virgin of the Cabeza area. It’s one massive pilgrimage (Romeria) I suppose, there were thousands and I mean thousands of people all camped out along the road near to where the junction of the A6178 and A6177 meet. There was also a lot of police and there was no way we were being allowed to turn down towards the Virgin de la Cabeza. In a bar later we saw (on TV) that there was a huge service going on and processions etc, we certainly hit a religious event, which seemed to continue for days. We are now near Córdoba, in Molino La Nava, Montoro, which is a converted oil mill, and its really special here. Julia has a suite! It was the only room that was left and my goodness me it’s huge, has a 4 poster bed and a bathroom you could live in. It also has a huge spa bath. We have room envy. On their way back from the direction of Andújar yesterday on the country roads near to the Molino Jack, Julia and Josie (all the J’s) saw a lynx. This is lynx territory and I was hoping to see one! Maybe today. The gang are off running and I am working! But I will go out for a walk later, lynx spotting… I did see a couple of rabbits but they aren’t so rare… Jack took an amazing photo of the Santuario a couple of days ago, so this is it:
