The final day…

The last three days of the grand route flew by. We were on a very interesting road, starting around Cacín (near Alhama de Granada) and ending in Almunécar. (as I have said all along). The road had some serious curves on it, and it’s quite dangerous especially if you’re running...

Córdoba to Almuñécar – and Sat Nav Failures…

I have been a bit lapse with my blogs of late as time seems to have slipped by in a flash from Molino la Nava (Montoro) to the end. I have to note though that I never did see a lynx in amongst all those darned olive trees. And to make matters worse my darling husband said to me one evening when...

Aaaaaah, Andalucia

We crossed over the border from Castilla La Mancha into Andalucia on the 29th April along what I think must be worst road ever. The A6178… pot hole city. It was yet another cold and rainy day! And it took me around 3 hours to drive between hotels and goodness me the road was windy, it...

Thirty cats and Jumpy

We really do end up in some of the nicest places to stay! And Casa Del Valle Hinojosas de Calatrava is no exception. As you arrive the sign says we share this space with dogs and cats. We sure did. There are cats everywhere. In broken plant pots, on the stairs and at the bases of trees in...

The long and winding road…

Well our journey is mostly certainly along long winding roads in the middle of nowhere, well not nowhere, Castilla La Mancha to be exact and the route continues to be beautiful. Rolling countryside and green, I’m not used to seeing Spain so green! Yesterday was a bit of blip on the...

From there to Porzuna

The last few days have been spent moving through Castilla La Mancha, and the scenery as I have driven from place to place has been beautiful. This is where the cows are I reckon. Castilla y León had pigs but this region has cows, and lots of them, it looks like farming on an industrial scale....

Castilla La Mancha – Half Way!

I can’t remember where we were yesterday (I will check), but it was lovely, a nice little pueblo with a plaza and a few bars scattered about…Cazalegas, that’s what it’s called. It has an embalse (reservoir) there, and it’s pretty. We stayed in Casa del Marques just...

Los Gredos hasta Arenas de San Juan – the Gredos to Arenas de San Juan

Julia is really motoring now, today is Day 5 of the 4th stage and we are staying in Arenas de San Juan (which is a very pretty little town), with a lovely castle, which I think I might have said once or twice before as we have travelled  through Castilla y León…As I mentioned earlier in...

One sunny Friday does not make a Spring

Goodness me, is that ever true. We had such a wonderful time at Posada de la Manuelas (Horcajo de las Torres), it was a wrench to leave, but we have to keep moving. And oh boy what a wake up call we were going to have. Yesterday was one of those days that you don’t want to repeat (apart...

Life in a small Spanish Village and our subsequent adventures

After living in Spain for a number of years and travelling a lot within Spain on holiday, we were very fortunate to spend two months travelling from Suances on the north coast to Almunecar on the south coast this year, taking two months to see the landscape. This is our tale and what happened afterwards back in our “normal” life…
