Chocolate Chip Cookies, Bananas and Coca Cola

As I said to my lovely English class (Maria Jose, Encarnita and Tere) I have been having way too much fun, trying to get anything else done is proving tough. I will return to the title of this blog in a moment. But I have decided that Castilla y León is amazing. Church after church, town after...

The leaving of Ampudia, Stage 3 begins…

Another jewel in the crown. They just keep coming. Ampudia has the most beautiful castle and wonderful church. This part of Spain is just full and I mean rammed with churches, castles (Castilla y León is a clue I suppose…), and monasteries. But all of them are fantastic. It’s WOW...

Chanting, stretching and a mantra before breakfast

Wow, this week has flown by. We moved on on Monday 26th March to La Posada de Santuario, Santa Maria de Nava, Castilla y León, which was wonderful. It’s in the middle of nowhere, really in nature. We needed this after the previous day of rain and snow, it was all a bit frantic in parts....

The adventure has well and truly started

I hardly know where to begin. Julia set off on Friday morning from Saunces (Cantabria) in fine form, a press crew turned up to capture the event and the interview was broadcast on Tele Cantabria so a lot of people are aware of what she is doing. Day 1 went pretty well, Julia and Josie tanked...

The journey south to north…

I can’t believe I haven’t had one minute to do this blog, but the last 6 days have been pretty eventful… We set off from home on the 18th March on our way to Suances (Cantabria) stopping overnight in Consuegra (south west of Madrid). That day was fabulous, great drive and good...

How many olive trees are there in the province of Jaén?

Well, that’s a very good question and I had to consult my best friend Google to find out. The reason why I decided to find out is because when my husband was refining the actual route for Day 34 (1st May) of the challenge, he said Julia needs to stop today at this olive tree. I laughed...

International Womens Day…

I was moved by watching the news at lunchtime today when I saw the items featuring the Spanish women’s strike today and I have to say my reaction was ‘good on you’… about time really. It’s one of the many things I like about living in Spain, they protest when they...

El desafío de Julia. Julia’s challenge

I just started sending information out to the hotels we are staying in along the way today and I have to say I have been overwhelmed by the positive response I have been getting. I don’t know why really but sometimes you don’t know how people are going to perceive things, even mega...

The word is “wow”

Everyone I talk to about the “route” and our adventure says “WOW”, then “WOW” again. It is a big deal… it’s one heck of a challenge. The momentum has really grown this week. Julia had a press interview in Granada and after that we decided it might...

Life in a small Spanish Village and our subsequent adventures

After living in Spain for a number of years and travelling a lot within Spain on holiday, we were very fortunate to spend two months travelling from Suances on the north coast to Almunecar on the south coast this year, taking two months to see the landscape. This is our tale and what happened afterwards back in our “normal” life…
